Puppies:

Puppies are hard work, and an American Pit Bull Puppy is no exception.  Yes, they are adorable as our little friend here shows.  But, with that cute little package comes a lot of responsibility.  American Pit Bull Terriers are notorious chewers.  Their powerful jaws need to chew to develop properly.  We suggest quality chew toys like Kong's.  They need lots of treats and Quality Dog food.  Your American Pit Bull Terrier pup will run up many expenses.  If you can not afford proper vet care, training, food and toys, then you may want to reconsider.  Our puppies are bread for temperament but any animal can bite.  Many owners purchase a puppy because they feel "safer" with a youngster.  They think that if they raise the dog around children and other animals everything will be just fine.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.  Your American Pit Bull Terrier needs to have a good bloodline.  Like the old saying goes, you can not make a silk purse out of a sows ear.  You can not get a even tempered adult dog if you start with a back yard breeder that has no respect for the breed.  Rough and Ready Pits Strongly Suggests that you Research the Background of your new puppy and its breeder.

Poisons:

Loving your Pit Bull is not enough, you need to know how to properly care for him/her.  One mistake that many owners sadly forget is to watch out for poisons and remove these from your home or lock them up.  Pit Bulls are incredibly intelligent and have a unique ability to figure out how to get into things.  I know one American Pit Bull Terrier that sat on the kitchen floor whacking at a cabinet door one day until she figured out how to pop it open by hitting the correct area.  After that, NO BOX OF CEREAL was safe.  The owner had to change the fixture on the cabinets.  Poisons can be very harmful and even fatal to your dog.  Be sure that all medications, cleaners and auto supplies are locked up.  Below is a list of a few products that can poison your pet.  If you would like more information please visit The National Animal Poison Control Center at...
